Description/Significance
The project consisted of the purchase and subdivision of
the existing property, renovation of the main house,
carriage house, pool and auxiliary structures and the
construction of a new 12,000 SF luxury custom home.
The complete restoration of the existing mansion
including stripping the brick of several coats of paint,
replacing all of the windows and doors and installing a
new slate roof with copper flashing, gutters and leaders.
The interior was a gut renovation updating all
mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Air
conditioning was added and the heating system was
replaced in an effort to meet the needs of mansion living
in the twenty-first century. A new gourmet kitchen was
installed with state-of-the-art appliances and custom
cabinetry throughout. Six full baths and two half baths
were replaced entirely using marble, tile and limestone
finishes. All existing floors, paneling and moldings were
restored to their original luster. Extensive new millwork
was added throughout the house to match the existing
character and style of the original estate.
The site is located in the heart of Long Island’s Gold
Coast. In addition to the restoration and renovation of the
original property, a four acre subdivision was created for
the purpose of building another custom estate for a future
client. Having established a core group of quality
subcontractors and craftsmen on the original project will
allow for a high look of quality and for many of the same
design elements to be utilized once again.
